An Austrian company was looking for a compact, high-performance compressed air solution for its production facility. Limited floor space and growing demands on reliability made conventional compressor stations obsolete. In cooperation with our Austrian partner ADLER Kompressoren GmbH, a customized container solution with three SCC STORM 30 units was created.

The result is impressive: maximum performance in the smallest of spaces, energy-efficient compressed air generation and an intelligent control system, which is already included in the scope of delivery.

The challenge: lack of space meets high compressed air requirements

The customer was faced with a classic dilemma of modern industrial sites: the demand for compressed air was constantly growing, but the available installation space was limited. A conventional compressor station would have required extensive structural measures – foundations, separate plant rooms, complex pipework. Time and budget were not available for this.

There were also other requirements: The system had to work reliably, be easy to maintain and remain energy-efficient. Traditional individual compressors would not have solved the problem. A solution was needed that was space-saving, powerful and future-proof.

This is exactly where the idea of a container solution came in. Containers offer weather protection, flexible installation and compact integration of all components in the smallest of spaces. The heart of the system is the master controller, which is already included in the scope of delivery – at no extra charge. This master controller intelligently coordinates the three STORM 30 units and ensures that only as many compressors are running as are actually needed.

The pack controller takes over the load distribution between the compressors and optimizes their operating points in real time. The result: minimal energy consumption, even wear of all units and stable system pressures without manual intervention.

Unlike simple sequence controls, the pack controller works flexibly and adapts dynamically to the current compressed air demand. In the event of a sudden drop in pressure, it automatically starts additional compressors. At low loads, it switches off specific units in order to avoid empty load losses.

Convincing price-performance ratio and 5-year guarantee

The overall package convinced the customer not only technically, but also economically. An excellent price-performance ratio was offered – significantly cheaper than the construction of a separate compressor station with comparable performance.

The warranty was also decisive: SCC air compressors was able to offer a 5-year warranty at no extra charge, which saved the customer money but also guaranteed long-term protection for their investment.

The IE4 permanent magnet motor offers maximum energy efficiency and requires less maintenance than conventional asynchronous motors. The large compressor stage operates at low speeds, which minimizes wear and increases the service life.

Thanks to the low noise emissions of just 65 dB(A), the STORM 30 can be set up flexibly – without disturbing noise for the working environment.
